A Guide To Angel Bite Piercings

The angelbite piercing is very similar to the snakebite. The only difference is:

  • The angel bite is located in the upper lip.
  • The snakebite is located in the lower lip.

An angelbite piercing is also composed of two piercings on each side of the upper lip. These two piercings must be horizontally aligned and completely symmetrical, as the slightest difference can make them look very lopsided.

What jewelry should I use?

Most people use labrets for piercings in the upper lip. PTFE and bioplastic are great materials for this region as they are gentle on teeth and gums.

If you suffer from a nickel allergy, we recommend using either of those or titanium, as they don’t release nickel.

How is an angelbite piercing made?

An angelbite piercing is very similar to other piercings, such as the Madonna and Medusa.

  • Your piercer uses a sterile marker to mark the location of the two piercings.
  • After disinfecting the skin and mouth, the piercer holds the lip with sterile forceps. A piercing needle is passed through the lip, followed by the piercing jewelry.
  • This little procedure is then repeated on the other side.

The piercer puts in a piece of jewelry that is longer than regular jewelry, to give the lip a little room if it swells up. You can use an ice cube to bring down the initial swelling.

How should I take care of my angelbite?

First of all, give it some rest. Don't play with the jewelry!

Clean it in the morning and evening with an isotonic saline solution.

Try to avoid cigarettes, alcohol, and foreign body fluids during the healing period. Otherwise, rinse your mouth with plain water after smoking, eating, and kissing.

It's also a good idea to buy a new toothbrush, as an old one will be home to an awful lot of bacteria.

And most importantly, always follow your piercer's instructions for aftercare.
