Piercing Jewelry Materials
PTFE is short for Polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as Teflon. This material was invented by accident in 1938. Since then, it has been used for medical applications, among other things. For about 20 years, PTFE has been widely used in piercings.
There are many advantages to using PTFE for piercing jewelry compared to surgical steel or titanium, for example.
Those are quite a few benefits, right?
And there’s more!
Overall, there are no disadvantages to using PTFE
You can easily shorten your PTFE piercing jewelry. All it takes is a pair of scissors to trim the rod. After cutting it to your desired length, use a metal ball with internal thread and screw it into the newly shortened PTFE rod. This will create a thread into the PTFE rod. Then you can screw any other internally threaded ball into it!
