A large metal barbell usually weighs about 0.7 Oz. (20 gr), while one made of acrylic weighs about 0.1 Oz. (3 gr). 

Depending on where your piercing is, it is more recommendable to wear light acrylic jewelry. 

This barbell is available from 10 gauge (2.4 mm) to 00 gauge (10 mm). 

All the barbells have a length of 5/8" (16 mm), except the 00 gauge (10 mm) bar, which is only 1/2" (12 mm).
